Say Hello in Different Languages

A robust social life can contribute greatly to brain health.  And, there’s no better way to make friends than to start off with a warm welcome.  To practice your memory strategies, pair up now with a partner and learn the phrase “Hello! How are You?” in as many languages as you can from the list below.  Want to increase the challenge? Add a time limit.  Then, without looking at the list see how many of language phrases you remember.  Feeling competitive?  Compare your list against a friends’ list.  Count 1 point for each correct answer.

Time: 15 Minutes

You Will Need; Pen and Paper, stopwatch

Arabic: Marhabaan. Kayf halk?

Chinese: Ni hao. Ni hao ma?

Croatian: Zdravo. Kako si?

French: Bonjour. Comment allez-vous?

German: Hallo. Wie gehts?

Hebrew: Shalom. Ma nish ma?

Hindi: Namaste. Kya haal hai?

Irish: Dia dhuit. Conas ta tu?

Japenese: Kon’nichiwa. Ogenkidesuka?

Latin.  Salve. Quid agis?

Russian. Zdrvstvuyte. Kak dela?

Spanish: Hola. Como estas?

Swedish: Halla. Hur mar du?

Thai: Swasdi. Pen xyangri bang?

Turkish: Merhaba. Nasilsin?

Vietnamese: Xin chào. Bạn khỏe không?

Zulu: Sawubon. Unjani?
