Through the Seasons: An Activities Program for Memory Challenged Adults
Mental stimulation offers demonstrable benefits for people with Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment, or other memory challenges. Our Through the Seasons program helps family members and caregivers engage memory challenged adults in simple, enjoyable activities that provide multi-sensory stimulation and enhance communication.
Designed by Dr. Green and colleague Joan Beloff, ASA, Through the Seasons provides a scientifically sound, well-developed activities plan that allows families and caregivers maintain and enhance relationships with the persons in their care. For the memory challenged individual, the program serves as a way of retaining dignity and remaining active, even as communication skills may become limited.
Our Through the Seasons program is available to family and professional caregivers in the book Through The Seasons: An Activities Book for Memory-Challenged Adults and Caregivers (Johns Hopkins University Press).
We currently offer the Through the Seasons program in the following formats:
- Lectures and workshops
- As a stand-alone lecture that’s perfect for caregiver groups or senior care professionals.
- Facilitator Training Series
- As a training program for facilitators, offered in person or on-line (our most affordable option).
- Available to qualified healthcare professionals only.
- Successful completion earns certification as a Total Brain Health® coach in the “Through the Seasons” program.
- Includes ongoing training, coach support, and referral services.
